Google describes protected cloud processing for selected Pixel features. See what the architecture protects and what the announcement does not establish for business data.
Google introduced Private AI Compute on 11 November 2025 as protected cloud processing for selected Gemini-powered features, including Magic Cue and Recorder on Pixel. Its announcement does not establish a general-purpose enterprise service or permission to send regulated records to any available model.
The enterprise dilemma
Compare the actual cloud service with self-hosting against the data it will process. Model availability, access controls and operational cost all matter. Neither arrangement is secure solely because of where it runs.
How Private AI Compute works
Google describes hardware-protected enclaves, encryption and remote attestation as the safeguards of this system. The company says the personal data processed inside it is inaccessible even to Google. That statement concerns the protected system, rather than every Gemini API request.
Why this matters
For sensitive records, first establish whether the particular feature uses this protection and is available for your intended deployment. Review the contractual terms and purpose of processing, alongside the requirements of your sector. An enclave alone does not establish a hospital's or a bank's legal compliance.
